Especially in anticipation of the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day, we have prepared an official set for you with a special anniversary logo for the celebrations that will take place in 2024! The set will keep the memory of this extremely important event alive in your homes, which had a significant impact on the course of World War II! The Higgins Boat model made from COBI bricks faithfully reflects its historical counterpart while maintaining the popular 1:35 scale. The brick-built landing craft has a completely new structure developed from the ground up. The model is 36 cm long and features an opening ramp and a detailed full hull. The set includes movable elements such as two machine guns with covers and a mechanism for lowering and raising the front ramp based on a pulley system. We haven't forgotten details like the rudder, turbines, and the opening hatch with the engine outline underneath. The set uses permanent prints! To showcase this beautiful model, we have designed a special brick-built display stand with a plaque bearing the boat's name. The set also includes two figures representing an American infantry soldier and a sailor from the inland ship's crew. A large, double-sided printed US flag flies on the boat. For history, military technology, and brick-building enthusiasts, this special D-Day anniversary set is intended! Build history, brick by brick!

Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP) or Higgins Boat is a type of landing craft used during World War II and later for the transport and landing of supplies, small vehicles, and soldiers. They were widely used during D-Day (June 6, 1944) and in operations Torch in North Africa, Husky, Shingle, and Avalanche in Italy, as well as in the Pacific theater in the Battle of Guadalcanal, the Gilbert Islands, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. The landing craft was designed by Andrew Higgins. Various manufacturers produced over 20,000 of these units. The majority of the structure consisted mainly of plywood, making the boat very cheap and easy to build, extremely light, but at the same time offering no protection against shots. Thanks to its flat bottom, special retractable front ramp, and drive cover, it could reach any shore, even very shallow ones. Onboard the landing craft was a 36-member army platoon. In the case of transporting a small vehicle, such as a jeep, it could also accommodate about 12 soldiers or 3.6 tons of cargo. The landing craft reached speeds of up to 12 knots (14 mph, 22 km/h). The boat was armed with two machine guns operated by two gunners.
