Atlantis (OV-104) is NASA's fourth shuttle to complete a spaceflight. It was one of the five reusable shuttles used to transport humans and equipment into Earth's orbit. Its maiden flight took place on October 3, 1985. In its 26 years of service, Atlantis undertook 33 missions and spent 306 days in orbit around the Earth. The era of the Space Shuttle concluded with the shuttle's landing on July 21, 2011, following a successful mission to resupply the International Space Station. After retiring from service, Atlantis was transported to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where it serves as a museum today.

The Hubble Space Telescope, orbiting in a low Earth orbit, is named after the American astronomer Edwin Hubble. The telescope was launched into orbit on April 24, 1990, aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. Since its inception, it has become one of the most vital instruments in the history of astronomy, providing an incredible amount of data. The Space Shuttle Atlantis serviced the Hubble Telescope during the STS-125 mission in 2009, delivering new instruments and conducting necessary repairs.
