The M4 Sherman is the key American main battle tank from World War II. It was manufactured between 1942 and 1945 and became the most well-known American tank. It underwent continuous development during the war and was equipped with a 75mm cannon.
Initially, the Shermans, with their ammunition and combustible engines, made them vulnerable to the heavier German tanks. Only after refining the design could the tables be turned. In total, around 49,000 units of all Sherman versions were produced. The vehicle was used by the armies of the USA, Great Britain, Poland, France, and the USSR. It had a reputation for being a reliable, easy-to-produce, and well-armed tank.
